Technology Project Management graduate student Revati Sangle was recently awarded the Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Accreditation Center's 2024 Chapter Student Club Scholarship. This award recognizes Sangle's active engagement with the PMI Houston Chapter Student Venue and her contributions to the chapter community.
Sangle's efforts include acting as lead coordinator for the 2023 annual Project Management Conference in Houston, Texas, organizing workshops, and investing in the student chapter's mentorship program in addition to contributing regularly to the student chapter's newsletter.
"Dr. Sherman was actually the one who informed me about the scholarships, so I'd like to thank him," added Sangle. "I would also like to show my appreciation to Zara Rashidbayli. She has been very active and responsive. She has become a primary contact on my LinkedIn for the field of project management."
While she's spending the summer in Austin, Texas, Sangle has decided that the grind won't stop.
"Victoria [Agwamba] was one of my TAs, and she helped me find some PMI workshops and engagements in Austin, too," Sangle said.
"I started my career in the IT field as an IT engineer, and I realized that when I was working in the IT industry the project management principles were applied everywhere. That's why I chose this program, and why I'd like to stay in the field as a project manage or project coordinator [after graduation]," she said.
"I've learned a lot about project management, and I've made great connections with students and professors alike," Sangle said of her time at the University of Houston. "Being a part of the PMI Houston chapter gave me real-world experience and knowledge about the project management field which I wouldn't be able to get from books alone."
