The 2023 Technology Leadership & Innovation Management (TLIM) Conference was a resounding success, attracting more than 20 speakers and a full house of industry leaders and students to the University of Houston’s Sugar Land campus in November.

The conference was organized by TLIM Director Maria Burns, who envisioned a platform for students to learn from industry and academic leaders' best practices and experiences in various fields. The impact of the conference was evident in the remarkable outcomes for the TLIM students, who secured job interviews and summer internships with leading companies within days of the event.

UH faculty members and speakers from energy, transportation, advanced manufacturing, big data analytics and other corporations shared strategies and proven tactics to ensure students’ success in their transition from academia to professional industry. They also highlighted the opportunities and challenges awaiting graduates in the rapidly changing and competitive global market. The conference was a valuable opportunity for students to network with potential employers, mentors, and peers and to gain insights and inspiration for their future careers.

The TLIM program is a unique and innovative academic program. Its multidisciplinary curriculum skillfully integrates technology, leadership, innovation and management while fostering project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The 2023 TLIM Conference demonstrated not only the excellence and diversity of this program and its students but the strong, mutually beneficial partnership it continues to cultivate between academia and industry.
