About Me

I am a PhD student in the department of Bioengineering at Rice University. My work is focused on developing hydrogel-based drug delivery systems for human diseases. I graduated from UH with a bachelor’s in biomedical engineering in May 2018. During my time at UH, I was a Program for Mastery in Engineering Studies (PROMES) Scholar as well as a National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) Scholar for 3 years. I participated in undergraduate research with the Coulson-Thomas lab in the Optometry department studying the extracellular matrix of mesenchymal stem cells. I currently serve on the PROMES Advisory Board and love working with, and promoting, women in STEM. I frequently mentor high school and undergraduate students looking to pursue a degree in the STEM field.
