The Academy of Distinguished Civil and Environmental Engineers welcomed three new members at its annual induction and awards ceremony on Thursday, January 31st at the Hess Club.
Hosted by the UH Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), the celebration honored Dennis Paul, Eliza Paul, and Orval E. Rhoads Jr. for their contributions to the profession, field and the university.
The program featured remarks from Joseph W. Tedesco, Elizabeth D. Rockwell Dean of the UH Cullen College, with updates on the college’s progress towards its goal of breaking into the Top 50 ranked engineering schools in the nation.
Other speakers included, alumnus and academy member, Joe Zimmerman, P.E., Roberto Ballarini, professor and department chair of civil and environmental engineering, as well as Thomas Hsu, Moores Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and his wife Laura.
In addition to inducting three distinguished alumni members into the academy, student scholarships and faculty/staff awards were also presented at the event.
