Think global. Act local. Build both.

As an engineering student, global engagement is possible, and there are programs designed with you in mind. The Cullen College of Engineering has several exciting ways for you to gain global experience while staying on track academically. Together, UH prepares every graduate to be a global citizen. Global Citizens Credential (GCC)

Trinity Mccann - Zaandam, Netherlands

The Global Citizens Credential (GCC) is an academic credential offered at the University of Houston that recognizes students for activities that build global knowledge and skills. Globally engaged students connect their academic and co-curricular experiences through the program, and they explore how to expand their global competence and global career readiness during their time at UH. The Global Citizens Credential will allow students to enhance their degrees with a set of core competencies that will distinguish them as global citizens including global knowledge, global engagement, and global responsibility. Program graduates are awarded a transcript notation, a certificate from the Provost, and an honor cord for commencement.

Enhance your resume by earning the Global Citizens Credential, a recognition of your global learning and engagement. It’s open to all students, with points given for various experiences, including:

  • Energy and Sustainability minors and other global courses
  • Students participating in learning abroad programs
  • Students with language fluency in a language other than English
  • Students completing research with an international focus
  • Global leadership experience in a globally focused student organization or by completing internship or volunteer experience with a globally oriented organization
