The 16th Annual Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Luncheon welcomed more than 100 alumni, students, and faculty at Hess Club on Wednesday, October 3.
The annual event – established in 2002 by the late Charles Beyer (BSCE ’72, MSCE ’77) – celebrates the successes of the UH civil and environmental engineering department and honors its alumni, supporters and friends.
The luncheon kicked off with opening remarks by Roberto Ballarini, Thomas and Laura Hsu professor and department chair of civil and environmental engineering. Ballarini welcomed guests by honoring the memory of Beyer, a distinguished alumnus and dedicated supporter of the college who founded the luncheon to bring together alumni and friends of the department. Beyer’s wife, Nancy, attended the event in his honor.
Joseph W. Tedesco, Elizabeth D. Rockwell Dean of the UH Cullen College, shared updates on the college’s progress towards its goal of breaking into the Top 50 ranked engineering schools in the nation.
Trent Epperson, assistant city manager for the city of Pearland, served as the keynote speaker.
