The Engineering Alumni Association (EAA) hosted its annual Alumni Awards Gala on June 9 at the Hilton Americas in downtown Houston.

The EAA Gala was established in 1987 to recognize alumni, faculty and friends of the UH Cullen College of Engineering for significant contributions to society and the profession. Proceeds from the event are used by the EAA to help further the goals of the Cullen College and its students.

The EAA honored six alumni with awards and recognized four EAA scholarship recipients from the Cullen College of Engineering at this year’s event.

The 2016 honorees included:

  • Lifetime Achievement – John Odis Cobb, P.E. (BSCE ’71, MSCE ‘79)
  • Distinguished Alumni – Dale Rudick, P.E. (BSCE ’91)
  • Distinguished Alumni – Terrance “Terri” Ivers, P.E. (BSME ’80)
  • Distinguished Young Alumni – Morena G. Arredondo, P.E. (BSCE ’07)
  • Entrepreneur/Innovation Award - Jainesh “Jay” Mehta (BSME ’83)
  • Dukler Distinguished Faculty – Venkat Selvamanickam, Ph.D. (MSME ’88, Ph.D. ME ’92)
