Two University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering graduate students were recognized for their plastics research at the 2008 Polyolenfins National Meeting the week of Feb. 25.

Mai Ha, chemical engineering graduate student, received first place in the student poster competition out of 100 entries nationally. The poster showcased her research on nanoparticle-enabled plastics technology, which focuses on the compatibility among differing polymer properties. She is currently pursuing this research under Ramanan Krishnamoorti, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering.

Tirthia Chatterjee, a chemical engineering graduate student also studying under Krishnamoorti, received one of two Thermal Plastics Scholarships. The $1,000 award is based on research record.
