A record 600 high school juniors and seniors met with University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering faculty and discovered the advantages of earning an engineering degree from UH at the college’s Open House on Nov. 11.

Students participated in hands-on activities in many of the labs, including programming a self-learning robot; simulating swimming motion using smart materials; observing wave interactions in a giant wave tank; using color changes in water tanks to simulate chemical reactions; creating a wax UH logo using computer aided manufacturing and automatic data collection; and simulating cargo traffic through computer modeling.

In addition to campus tours, students talked with engineering faculty about the various programs offered at UH to enhance their engineering learning experience.
