PROMES Engineering Workshop Position Application

DEADLINE: January 22, 2021

Thank you for your interest in becoming a workshop facilitator. As you know, Workshop Facilitators and Assistant Facilitators work alongside faculty to support student learning.

Recommended Qualifications

  1. Facilitator: A or A- in the course supported. The Facilitator is responsible for leading the collaborative learning environment, developing worksheets and problems, and leading a discussion of problem solving techniques and initiatives. Problems should be based on material from the class lecture and should incorporate material that will help the students gain mastery in knowledge over the subject. A Facilitator will be able to present material and control the learning environment.
  2. Assistant: B- or better in course supported. The Assistant Facilitator is to act as a backup for the Facilitator. Assistant Facilitator will execute any administrative duties such as taking attendance, making copies, following up with students about participation, grades, or absences.
  3. Cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher

FYI: Interviews are typically scheduled between April-May. Final decision cannot be made until the semester has closed. All final decisions will be sent out the by end of June.

NOTE: Workshop times are locked in. You must be available for the workshop at the time indicated in order to be considered. There is the possibility that additional workshops may be offered. You will be asked about your interest and availability in case this happens.

Once hired, facilitators will be required to complete new hire paperwork. If selected, you cannot be employed anywhere else in the UH system. Mandatory Training will also occur prior to both the fall and spring semesters.
