Photos: UH Engineering Celebrates the Official Opening of New Katy Academic Building

More than 150 guests from the UH Cullen College of Engineering, the University of Houston and the University of Houston-Victoria gathered to celebrate the Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new UH at Katy Academic Building on Monday, October 14.

The University of Houston at Katy currently serves the UH College of Nursing, the UH Cullen College of Engineering and the University of Houston-Victoria. 

Doors opened to students in August 2019.

The University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering celebrated the graduation of more than 600 engineers on Thursday, May 9 at the Fertitta Center.

The proud graduates earned: 427 bachelor’s degrees, 141 master’s degrees and 45 doctorate degrees.

The keynote address was delivered by Chang Oh Turkmani, managing director at the Mega Company and a member of the Engineering Leadership Board (ELB).

Delegation from Angola Visits Cullen College

Cullen College alum Terri Ivers (BSME '80) speaks to a delegation from Angola in hopes of developing an educational partnership with Agostinho Neto University.

A delegation of educators and businesspeople from Angola visited Houston last week to discuss potential collaborations with the Cullen College of Engineering as well as the entire University of Houston.

The meeting was part of a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding signed in November 2008 between UH and Agostinho Neto University, the largest public university in Angola.

Biomedical Engineering Doctoral Program Approved


The University of Houston Health Initiative has received a major boost from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, which recently approved the establishment of a doctoral program in biomedical engineering at the UH Cullen College of Engineering.
