Two Engineering Professors Earn NSF CAREER Awards

Two professors in the Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston earned Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program awards from the National Science Foundation (NSF) this year. Each received a five-year, $500,000 grant for integration of outstanding research and educational outreach.

Moscow Summer Intern Program for UH Engineering Students

Students at the University of Houston are eligible to participate in the Moscow Summer Intern Program as part of a student initiative of the Baker Institute Space Policy Program. The program is a wonderful opportunity for all UH students, but especially those with engineering expertise and an excitement for space exploration!

Prestigious Society Inducts UH Engineering Professor

Since 1955, the international society for optics and photonics, SPIE, has inducted fellows each year to recognize their significant scientific and technical contributions to optics, photonics and imaging fields as well as service to the society and to the greater scientific community.

UH Selected to Lead Offshore Energy Research Center

The University of Houston will lead a national research center for subsea engineering and other offshore energy development issues, including research and technology to improve the sustainable and safe development of energy resources in the Gulf of Mexico.

The work is intended to reduce the risk of offshore accidents, oil spills and other deepwater disasters.

Professor and Post-doc Publish Paper on Novel Leukemia Treatment

Almost 19,000 new cases of acute myeloid leukemia and 10,500 deaths from the blood and bone marrow cancer could strike Americans this year, according to the American Cancer Society. Chemotherapy, when used as primary treatment, is successful in about 65 percent of patients with the cancer, and remission rates vary depending on patients’ individual characteristics, according to the organization.

Undergraduate Research Day 2014!

This year's Undergraduate Research Day will take place Thursday, October 9th at 4 p.m. in the Rockwell Pavilion at the M.D. Anderson Library at the University of Houston main campus.

Out of the 150 undergraduate researchers showcasing their posters and oral presentations, 20 will be undergraduates from the UH Cullen College of Engineering.
