Top Ten Resources for Engineering Students

For new engineering students, balancing the many aspects of college life can be a challenging experience. That’s why the University of Houston offers a number of resources to help students succeed, both in and out of the classroom. Below is a list of resources, programs and centers that are available to University of Houston students.

New UH Center Provides Training and Support for STEM Educators

The Cullen College of Engineering is part of a new University of Houston center that focuses on best practices in the teaching of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education to address the state’s need for increases in the number of students pursuing and graduating from these programs.

Using the footage shot by three Cullen College of Engineering students, we produced a video to give our prospective students a closer look into the life of a Cullen College undergrad.

The Engineering Career Search

As the end of the spring semester approaches, members of the class of 2013 are preparing to transition into the full-time workforce. Engineering graduates will apply the technical skills learned in the lectures and labs of the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering at their new jobs.

Booths and business suits were wall to wall at University of Houston Engineering and Technical Career Fair held Feb. 6. Over 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students, along with several recent graduates, attended the event for the opportunity to connect with industry, and explore job and internship opportunities.

ISIP Hosts Professional Development Series, Helps Students Connect with Industry

University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering students were recently given a real world picture of their future in engineering at a professional development series hosted by the college’s Industrial Scholar Interns Program (ISIP). The week-long program offered workshops on a variety of topics including professionalism and ethics in engineering, diversity in women and resume writing.
