Engineering Students Gain Valuable Networking Skills at Career Fair Kickoff

More than 120 UH engineering students honed their career-building and networking skills at the Career Fair Kickoff. The event was hosted by the Engineering Career Center on September 20, two days before the popular fall Engineering Career Fair, to teach students invaluable networking skills and provide them an opportunity to meet with company recruiters before the fair.

Recruiters from companies including BP, Credera, ExxonMobil, IBM, Halliburton and Phillips 66, and representatives from the Engineering Alumni Association’s Board of Directors attended the Kickoff to network with future UH Engineering Cougars. Students also participated in résumé reviews, learned how to deliver elevator pitches and watched a fashion show with examples of appropriate professional attire.

Student volunteers from the UH chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers helped coordinate the activities.
