In an effort to continue recruiting the best and brightest young engineers, the UH Cullen College of Engineering held its annual New Student Welcome Event last weekend. The Cullen College invited high school students from across the U.S. to visit the campus, meet current engineering students and professors, and learn more about the undergraduate engineering degrees offered at the University of Houston.

Over 100 high school seniors, some from as far away as Baltimore, Maryland, packed the Engineering Commons for a welcome reception and meet-and-greet with Cullen College faculty, staff and students. The high school students also broke into smaller groups to tour individual labs and partake in hands-on engineering demonstrations. Parents were invited to their own information session, which covered topics from financial aid to campus life.

The Cullen College will still be holding one more New Student Welcome Event in April; accepted students can expect to find an invitation in their home mailbox as well as their e-mail.
