Professor Ramanan Krishnamoorti Appointed Leader of UH Energy Initiatives

University of Houston President Renu Khator has named Dow Chair Professor Ramanan Krishnamoorti as a special assistant to the president/chancellor for UH Energy, a collection of the university’s preeminent energy research and education programs. Krishnamoorti will lead UH’s efforts to develop a strategic plan for UH Energy involving education and training, research and the expansion of UH’s Energy Research Park.

Immunotherapy, in which cells from the human immune system are unleashed to fight disease, has been the big story in cancer treatment over the past few years. When it works, it can spur long-lasting remission in patients for whom other treatments have failed. But most patients don’t benefit, and there is still no good way to predict who will respond.

William A. Brookshire Leaves Legacy of Generosity and Dedication to the Cullen College

On May 19 at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Brookshire’s family will host a memorial on the UH campus at the Student Center, Houston Room. Friends and family are invited.

UH alumnus William A. Brookshire, Ph.D. (BSChE '57), co-founder and chairman of the board of S&B Engineers and Constructors, died on April 21, 2017.

Joseph Tedesco, Elizabeth D. Rockwell Dean of the Cullen College of Engineering said, “Dr. Brookshire was a fine gentleman and one of our great philanthropists, always in search of new ways to help students and professors. We will forever feel his generosity and his loss in equal measures.”
