The Texas Renewable Energy Industry Association (TREIA) will host the Texas Renewables '05 conference at the University of Houston Hilton Hotel. The UH Cullen College of Engineering is a sponsor of the event and has opened enrollment to faculty, students and alumni of the college.

“Hosting the conference gives the university the opportunity to engage the broad spectrum of the renewable energy industry in Texas. This growing business sector is one of Texas’ most innovative, exciting and promising,” TREIA president Karl Rabago said. “University students, researchers and faculty will have an opportunity to learn about what is happening in the renewable energy business, policy and projects around the state.”

The conference, which runs from Nov. 13-15, will focus on policy developments and business activity in the renewable energy field and is open to any interested participants. A welcome reception Sunday evening will kick off the event, and exhibits and breakout sessions will continue throughout the conference. Companies and institutional exhibits will be located in Ballrooms A and D as well as in the foyer, and the breakout session topics include Large-scale Wind Electric; Non-Wind Electric; Buildings, Space Condition, Demand Side and Transportation Fuels.

Five general sessions are also offered to discuss new policies and potential challenges in Texas renewables. An awards luncheon and Texas Offshore Wind Forum will conclude the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Event registration is $150 for TREIA members or employees of company members, $195 for non-members and $50 for students who include a copy of their student identification card with the registration form. Pre-registration ends on Nov. 5, and a fee of $25 will be added after that date.
