UH engineering kicked off the annual Offshore Technology Conference at the 29th Annual UH crawfish boil held on the UH campus Sunday, April 29.
Alumni, faculty, students and industry leaders gathered to network and mingle as they enjoyed crawfish, barbecue and live music.
Celebrating 50 years, the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) is an exhibition that brings energy professionals together to exchange ideas and opinions to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources.
This year’s OTC honored UH crawfish boil founder, and engineering alumnus Benton Baugh (BSME ’67). Benton was recognized along with four others as “Legacy Members” for having attended every show since 1969.
“I remember the first OTC and reminds me of the present OTC. The technology has changed but the show seems very similar to me, says Baugh (BSME ’67). It is a very quality show and has grown over the years. The technology is what has really changed rather than the show.”
The funds raised from the crawfish boil benefit the Cullen College to provide scholarships and academic programs.
Sponsors of this year’s UH offshore crawfish boil include: Logistics International, Inc., Oil States Industries, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Mac Dermid Offshore Solutions Ltd., Pennwell Corporation, Stream- Flo, Spooltech, LLC, Gate Energy, C-Automation Inc., Future Drilling Equipment, Inc.
