Jesse Gonzalez (1969 BSCE) and Manmohan S. Kalsi (1969 MSME, 1975 PhD) will receive the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award at the 2003 Distinguished Engineering Alumni Awards Dinner on Friday, June 6 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Downtown Houston. Siddika Demir (1993 BSCE) will receive the Distinguished Young Engineering Alumna Award and Raymond J. Scheliga (1979 BSME) will receive the Roger Eichhorn Leadership Service Award. Civil engineering professor Osman Ghazzaly will receive the Abraham E. Dukler Distinguished Engineering Faculty Award. The keynote speaker for the evening will be Astronaut Bonnie Dunbar (1983 PhD), who received the Distinguished Engineering Alumna Award in 1991.
Since 1987 the Engineering Alumni Association has recognized alumni, faculty and friends of the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering for significant contributions to society and the profession. All past recipients will be recognized that evening, which will also commemorate the Cullen College of Engineering's 60th Anniversary.
