IE Professor Spearheads UH Community Effort to Help Afghan Children

Thanks to industrial engineering associate professor Lawrence Schulze and the generosity of the UH community, more than 20 boxes full of school supplies and children’s clothing items were hand-delivered to schools and orphanages in Afghanistan.

ConocoPhillips Donates Over $1 Million to UH


Continuing its commitment to education at the University of Houston, ConocoPhillips is donating $1 million to UH’s growing Energy Research Park (ERP) and $125,000 to various engineering, science and business programs.

Professor Commissed as Naval Campus Liaison Officer

Lawrence Schulze, professor of industrial engineering, is commissed as the regional Naval Campus Liaison Officer.

A University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering professor last week was commissioned in the Naval active reserve as a Campus Liaison Officer (CLO).

Lawrence Schulze, associate professor of industrial engineering, became the first CLO for the university since 2001, a post held by John Matthews, a manager for the Cullen College’s PROMES program.

Program to Assist Students With Military Roots Pursue Engineering Degree


The University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering is establishing a program that helps address the unique higher education needs of veterans and active military.

The Camo to Classroom to Career Program is designed not only to guide them through college life, but also support them in finding a job upon completion of their engineering degree. The program will launch this fall in partnership with the university’s Veterans’ Services Office.
