Graduate Academic Policies

Transfer Credit
  • Course credit already applied to a prior degree may not be transferred or applied toward another degree at any level. In other words, a course cannot be applied to two different degrees.
  • Credit may be transferred only for advanced or graduate courses completed with grades of A or B.
  • A maximum of six credit hours of transfer credit (with a grade of A or B), upon approval of your departmental Graduate Advisor and the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research of the College, can be applied to a master's or Ph.D. degree.
  • Transfer credit hours cannot be more than five-years old at the time of graduation to satisfy the master's degree course requirements. Exceptions to the five-year limit are rare and require approval through the Dean's Office to the Provost's Office.
