The Honorable Jon Rosenthal (’16)
State Representative, House District 135, Texas House of RepresentativesRepresentative Jon Rosenthal is one of only three engineers currently serving in the Texas State House of Representatives. Jon Rosenthal has been in Texas since 1979. He is happily married to his wife Aminta, and they share two adult children. The Rosenthals have lived in Northwest Harris County since 2007.
Jon earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1991, and worked for over 25 years as a Project Manager, Engineering Manager, and Subsea Systems Engineer in and around the oil & gas industry. In 2016, Jon earned a Graduate Certificate in Subsea Engineering from the University of Houston. Jon left industry to run for office and was first elected in November 2018. Representative Rosenthal was named Freshman of the Year by the Legislative Study Group Caucus in the 86th Legislature, and is currently in his fourth term in the 89th Legislature. He recently launched his campaign to be elected to the Texas Railroad Commission, the body that regulates oil & gas operations in Texas. If elected, Representative Rosenthal would become the only Engineer serving as a Texas Railroad Commissioner.
