HOUSTON – JUNE 29, 2020 – The Communications Department of the University of Houston's Cullen College of Engineering announced today that their entry, “UH Engineering at Katy,” won the 34th Annual AMA Crystal Award for Outstanding Interactive Multimedia & Video.
This year Houston’s only results-driven marketing awards received 287 entries in more than 80 categories from marketing, communications, advertising, design and public relations professionals. The 2020 Crystal Award Winners were announced at a virtual event on June 24.
Dr. Joseph W. Tedesco, Elizabeth D. Rockwell Dean of the UH Cullen College of Engineering, praised the work of the department.
“The expansion to UH at Katy is an important component of the Cullen College of Engineering's goal of nurturing and creating the next generation of skilled professionals and academics,” he said. “I'm glad to see our communications staff honored for their efforts to spotlight this initiative.”
The AMA Houston Crystal Award entries are judged based purely on results. The panel of judges, which includes the country’s top marketing thought leaders, CMOs, business owners, other AMA Chapter leaders, marketing educators and authors, rate a project’s objective, strategy, tactics and finally the measurable results, which counts double.
“Despite the conditions we all found ourselves in at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Houston marketing community showed us what creativity and perseverance look like through their incredible Crystal Awards entries,” said 2019-2020 AMA Houston President Erika Waters. “Even though we had hoped to congratulate everyone in person in our usual AMA Houston style, we are thankful to everyone who celebrated in our virtual celebration. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners!”
