The UH Electrochemical Society student chapter (UH ECS) hosted their Spring 2019 Poster Competition on Friday, March 29 in the Engineering Commons.

The student organization advised by Yan Yao, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the Cullen College of Engineering, welcomed undergraduate and graduate engineering students from both the University of Houston and from Rice University to showcase their electrochemistry research to industry experts, students and faculty.

The national ECS President, Dr. Yue Kuo, was also present to judge the students’ posters and provide advice on what to expect when presenting these concepts to industry experts. The judging panel consisted of six industry experts who are also members of the Electrocheimcal Society.  The judges included Dr. Gilbert Liu and Dr. Sumit Verma of Shell Corporation, Dr. Robert A Zeller of Halliburton, Dr. Robert L. Zeller III of Occidental Chemical Corporation, Dr. Robert Schucker of Sabic, and Dr. Xuguang Li of LynnTech.

The Electrochemical Society is a national organization focused on advancing solid state and electrochemical science and technology. The society’s topical interests cover 13 divisions including batteries and energy storage, corrosion science and technology, electrochemical engineering and more.
