BP Foundation Inc. recently gifted $29,500 in support of UH Cullen College of Engineering programs, student organizations and event sponsorships. Engineering alums Gabriel Cuadra (2006 BSChE), business unit leader for the Latin America Retail division of BP Mexico, and Lizie Nguyen (2006 BSChE), subsea engineer for BP Exploration & Production, presented the check to Interim Dean Fritz Claydon and Vita Como, director of professional development, following a lunch with college program leaders and representatives from various engineering student organizations.

Specifically, the gift will provide programmatic support for the college's Industrial Scholars Interns Program and for PROMES, in addition to support for several student organization chapters and equipment for a senior-level chemical engineering lab. Part of the gift includes sponsorships for college events, such as Engineering Alumni Association tailgating and the annual BOS (Beginning of Semester) party.
