UH Engineering Students to Appear on NASA Cable Channel

Members of the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering student chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) will guest star on a television show on NASA's cable channel, NASA CONNECT TV, at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9.

The program will be aired repeatedly and will also be available on the NASA website.

The 28-minute program, "Functions and Statistics: Dressed for Space," deals with the past, present and future spacesuits that astronauts wear.

AIAA students Alicia Contreras, Nathan Howard and Rocco DeGrazia appear in a segment of the show filmed March 28 at the Rice School in Houston, Texas, where they directed hands-on activity for eighth-graders learning about spacesuits. The students studied how different colors, reflective surfaces and materials are affected by radiant heat absorption and heat radiation.

The UH student chapter also was named the AIAA "Outstanding Student Chapter for Southwest Region" on April 25 at the Clear Lake Hilton.
