Engineering Faculty Recognized for Teaching, Research

Dean Joseph Tedesco recognized UH Cullen College of Engineering faculty members for outstanding teaching and research during the 2008-2009 academic year at the college's Spring Faculty/Staff Meeting.

Richard Willson, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering and biochemical and biophysical sciences, was honored with the Fluor Daniel Faculty Excellence Award, the highest award given by the college. Ovidiu Crisan, professor of electrical and computer engineering, received the W.T. Kittinger Teaching Excellence Award, the college's most prestigious teaching honor. Leang Shieh, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and Larry Witte, professor of mechanical engineering, were named co-recipients of the Career Teaching Award for excellence in teaching and service to students.

In addition to the awards listed below, an outstanding lecturer award was given to Madgy Akladios. Outstanding teaching assistant awards were given to Arif Ozer and Ahmet Oncel from mechanical engineering, and Khaled Eldressi from industrial engineering.
