Current Position: Postdoctoral Associate, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Energy Sciences Institute, Yale University

“I had the opportunity to participate in the Future Faculty Program (FFP) when I was a Ph. D candidate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Houston. While I was an engineering graduate student, I frequently debated whether I should pursue a career in academia or industry for my path after graduate school. I am thankful to have found clarity through the trainings, discussions, and advice I received through the Future Faculty Program. Specifically, I learned about the full scope of faculty roles and responsibilities and how to become successful in such competitive hiring and funding environments. FFP helped me to realize how critical research diversification is during postdoctoral training. As such, I decided to pursue a postdoctoral role at Yale University. Without this class, I would have missed an opportunity to participate in discussions on professionalism, networking, developing original research ideas, ethics, and presentation skills. I am confident that I will be able to use this knowledge/skills as I continue my journey in Mechanical Engineering.”
