Researchers Report New Understanding of Energy Fluctuations in Fluids

Rodolfo Ostilla-Mónico, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at UH, said this work on energy fluctuations within fluids could lead to a better understanding of the behavior of bacteria and other organisms.

The Casimir Force is a well-known effect originating from the quantum fluctuation of electromagnetic fields in a vacuum. Now an international group of researchers have reported a counterpoint to that theory, adding to the understanding of energy fluctuations within fluids.

“A reliable evacuation plan is key to successful mass evacuation,” said Lim, a professor and chair of the industrial engineering department at the UH Cullen College of Engineering and Hari and Anjali Agrawal Faculty Fellow.
