VIDEO: Undergraduate Research Day 2014

Cullen College undergraduate students joined peers from all across the University of Houston in a pinnacle of research excellence on Thursday at the 10th annual UH Undergraduate Research Day. The event showcased the research achievements of more than 150 undergraduate students who participated in research projects through poster and oral presentations. Of the participants, 20 were from the Cullen College of Engineering.

While it’s very common for graduate and doctoral students to perform research in university settings, undergraduate students are not always afforded the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research laboratories. At the University of Houston, and especially at the Cullen College of Engineering, this is not the case. Undergraduate research opportunities are always available through programs like SURF, Summer of Apps and the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), just to name a few. In addition to these programs, many Cullen College professors welcome and encourage engineering undergrads to join their lab groups and get their hands dirty with high-level research.
