2004 Engineering Faculty Awards for Teaching, Research

Dean Raymond Flumerfelt announced the winners of this year's faculty teaching and research awards at the UH Cullen College of Engineering's annual Faculty and Staff Meeting on April 29.

David Jackson, professor of electrical and computer engineering, claimed the W. T. Kittenger Teaching Excellence Award, the most prestigious teaching award given by the college.

Winners of the Cullen College of Engineering Outstanding Teaching Awards include Shankar Chellam, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering and chemical engineering; Ji Chen, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering; Stanley Kleis, associate professor of mechanical engineering; and Kishore Mohanty, professor of chemical engineering.

Winners of the Cullen College of Engineering Outstanding Lecturer Awards are Mickey Fleischer from chemical engineering and Marvin Karson from industrial engineering.

Kishore Mohanty claimed the Cullen College of Engineering Senior Faculty Research Award. Paul Ruchhoeft, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, claimed the Cullen College of Engineering Junior Faculty Research Award.

Leang-San Shieh, professor of electrical and computer engineering, claimed the Fluor-Daniel Faculty Excellence Award.

UH award recipients from engineering that were also recognized were Charles Dalton, professor of mechanical engineering, who received the Enron Teaching Excellence Award; Christopher Chung, associate professor of industrial engineering, who received the Magner Academic Advising Award; Chidiogo Madubike, Ph.D. student in electrical and computer engineering, who received the Graduate Teaching Assistant Award; and Sharon Gates, advising assistant in chemical engineering, who will receive the Staff Excellence Award.
