We Asked Three Cullen College Undergrads to Film Their Lives: Watch the Video!

High school students considering whether to apply to the UH Cullen College of Engineering often ask us what undergraduate life is like at the university. Well, rather than tell you, we decided to show you: We asked a few of our Cullen College undergrads to film their lives for two weeks and talk to us one-on-one about their college experience. The result was an honest, first-hand account of what it is like to be an engineering student at the Cullen College. Watch the video!

Coursera, a leading massive open online course (MOOC) platform, today announced that it will be working with the University of Houston System and nine other state university systems and public university flagships to explore the possibilities of using MOOC technology and content to improve completion, quality and access to higher education. Molecular Sensing Research Featured on Journal Cover
Research from the Cullen College of Engineering that promises to drastically improve molecular sensing technology was featured on the cover of a recent issue of the scientific journal Nanoscale. The work was conducted by electrical and computer engineering assistant professor Wei-Chuan Shih. Shih’s research involves an advance to a molecular detection technique known as surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, or SERS, and could boost everything from environmental monitoring to medical diagnostics. Retired Astronaut, Engineering Educator to Lead Aerospace Engineering Program
Who better to lead an aerospace engineering program than a retired astronaut with an engineering Ph.D. and a passion for education? That’s a very brief resume of Bonnie Dunbar, a veteran of five space shuttle missions, professor of mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering at the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering, head of the UH STEM Center and now the new director of the college’s Aerospace Engineering Program. "UH Mappers Help Find Lost World": Cullen College Professor Featured in Houston Chronicle
A team of UH Cullen College of Engineering researchers who helped uncover a lost world in the rainforests of Honduras were featured in the Houston Chronicle today. The research team from the UH Cullen College of Engineering's National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) recently revealed that they discovered ancient ruins hidden deep within the Honduran rainforests which may belong to the legendary lost city of Ciudad Blanca. Lee Named Gulf Coast SPE Engineer of the Year
John Lee has one more plaque to hang on the wall. Lee, Professor and Hugh Roy and Lillie Cranz Cullen Distinguished University Chair in the college’s Petroleum Engineering Department, was already one of the most decorated faculty members in the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering. Last month, he received another honor: the Gulf Coast Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers named Lee its 2013 Engineer of the Year. The honor recognizes overall career excellence, service to the field of petroleum engineering and civic contributions. Lee excels in all three areas. Read More
