Ph.D. Works to Optimize Radiation Treatment
As lung cancer patients breathe, the tumor in their lung moves along with the surrounding tissue, sometimes causing radiation treatment beams to miss the tumor entirely and instead blast healthy cells with toxic rays. Researchers Win $700K Grant to Develop Pipeline Safety System
Two researchers with the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering are developing a low-cost GPS-based system that can provide real-time alerts to the pipeline owner and the person operating the excavator when digging is taking place near a pipeline. The research is supported by a $700,000 grant from the U.S Department of Transportation and the Gas Technology Institute. Read More

PHOTOS: Rockwell Lecture Series Presents "America’s Energy Future"
The Cullen College of Engineering and the Rockwell Distinguished Lecture Series presented "America's Energy Future" on March 21, a talk by BP's Felipe Bayon focusing on the future of the energy industry. Bayon, who serves as Senior Vice President of BP America and heads the company's Global Deepwater Response Group, spoke about his own personal energy industry experience spanning from Colombia to the United States as well as BP's high-level view of the future global energy picture. He also spoke on the "Great Crew Change," the shift in industry from retiring baby boomers to a new generation of STEM-savvy professionals. Check out the pictures here.
