The Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center at the University of Houston (UH TMAC) continues to advance industry collaboration across Texas, most recently with an on-site workshop at Hewlett Packard.
UH TMAC is committed to accelerating the profitable growth and competitiveness of businesses by delivering hands-on solutions across strategic management, technology and operations. Serving a variety of industries — manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and government, among others — UH TMAC partners with organizations to enhance processes, adopt advanced technologies and develop a high-performing workforce that supports sustainable success.
These impactful initiatives are led by a dedicated University of Houston team, including Dmitri Litvinov, Gino Lim and Matthew Hu, who integrate academic expertise with real-world applications to address complex operational challenges.
Hu shared his enthusiasm about the recent workshop held at Hewlett Packard in March.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see the impact of a highly engaging and productive workshop that truly highlights the strength of collaboration between academia and industry,” he said. “At UH, we are passionate about creating meaningful experiential learning opportunities by immersing our students in real-world problem-solving environments. Through value stream mapping, teams gained deep insights into current operations, identified key gaps, and uncovered opportunities to elevate efficiency.”
He added, “What made this experience even more exciting was the use of cutting-edge AI technologies — Digital Twins, AI Agents, and Agentic AI — to enable data-driven decisions and empower teams to confidently tackle complex challenges.
Hu also expressed appreciation to Ellie Lundberg, Vice President of Global Logistics at HP, and Arun Adat, Vice President of Global Operations at HP, for their support and collaboration. Adat is also a proud graduate of the Cullen College of Engineering.
“Partnerships like these are incredibly valuable in preparing the next generation of leaders with the mindset, tools, and confidence to drive operational excellence and innovation,” Hu said.
UH TMAC continues to expand its partnerships across industries, fueling both business transformation and workforce development. Since its relaunch at UH in September 2025, the center has already delivered measurable impact, including notable success stories such as revenue growth at Galveston-based DS Imports LLC.
At the Cullen College of Engineering, graduate students in Industrial and Systems Engineering — especially those in the Master’s in Engineering Management (MEM) program — actively participate in TMAC initiatives, gaining hands-on experience that seamlessly bridges theory and practice.
