Ph.D Students
Claudio Olmi Claudio Olmi is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Houston. He received his B.S. and M.S. degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from the University of Houston. He specializes in System Integration of hybrid Mechanical and Electrical systems with focus on Software Programming, Analog and Digital Hardware Design, Internet Technologies for Remote Operations, Digital Controls, and NI LabVIEW Programming. Olmi worked in projects using Smart Materials applied to Civil and Mechanical Structures for in laboratory and remote operations from where he published 2 journal papers and several conference presentations. He is a student member of IEEE.
Peng Li Peng Li is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston. He received his B.S. and M.S. degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He specializes in Embedded System Design and Software Programming, Analog and Digital Hardware Design,

Bosko Gajic Bosko Gajic completed his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics minor at the University of Houston in the Spring of 2008. He is currently pursuing a M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston. His current focus is on implementing wireless sensor networks with smart materials and structures applications.
Christiana Chang Christiana Chang is currently a masters student studying mechanical engineering at the University of Houston. She received her bachelors degree in the same department in Spring 2008. Her current research topics focus on the use of carbon materials to the physical properties of composite and concrete systems. In addition to her studies, she is an avid photographer.
Devendra Patil Devendra Patil
Michael Ho Michael Ho is currently a Mechanical Engineering MS student at the University of Houston. He received his BS degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Houston. His research focuses mainly on the application of smart materials, especially shape memory alloys, piezoceramics, and fiber bragg gratings, in medical devices.

Oliver Rivera Oliver Rivera is currently pursuing the B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston, where his graduation is anticipated in December 2009. Ongoing research he is involved with includes discovering new uses for shape memory polymers, and testing creep and fatigue of shape memory alloy cable with the Smart Materials and Structures Laboratory at the University of Houston. He was actively involved with the University of Houston 2007 Formula SAE entry and is currently an officer of his student section of the Society of Women Engineers.
