Parameters Fall 2004 Nanotechnology
The incredible shrinking world of nanotechnology has ushered in a new era in science and engineering, one that points to the day when tiny miracles of invention will be constructed with atomic precision. UH engineering faculty and alumni are national leaders in this effort, and much of their work on the “dry” side of nanotechnology is featured. Read this and more in the latest issue of Parameters magazine...

UH Alumnus Merges Engineering, Communication to Aid in Product Development
As an applications engineer, UH alumnus Kevin Self (1991 BSEE) finds new ways to use his company's 8 and 16-bit microprocessors to solve technical challenges for a wide range of applications and industries. Self’s knowledge of microcontrollers and experience in technical support led him to write one of Dallas Semiconductor's technical manuals, The High-Speed Microcontroller Data Book.

Nascent Partnership with Cummins Yields New Opportunities in Research, Education
Cummins, Inc., a Fortune 500 company best known for its world-class diesel engines, is donating an engine dynamometer and engine to the UH Diesel Engine Controls Research Facility. In addition, Cummins has recently underwritten a $30,000 fellowship for UH mechanical engineering students. As generous as these gifts are, there is something even more valuable taking shape—a working partnership in research and education with a word-class corporation.
