UH Chemical Engineering Professor Richard C. Willson III and alumnus Jason Murphy (1998 MSChE, 2002 PhD ChE), have been awarded a U.S. patent for a new process for the separation and assay of biochemical cultures by compaction agents. The patent is expected to have a substantial impact on the production of DNA and other nucleic acids, a multi- million dollar enterprise. Full story...

The Cullen College of Engineering will receive a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to retain and recruit students. The grant is a part of the foundation’s efforts to boost national graduation rates in the areas of engineering, science, technology and math. Full story...
