(September 10, 2001) Neil Frank, the nation's foremost authority on hurricanes and tropical storms, is scheduled to join storm damage experts at a Sept. 14 conference to address the impact of Tropical Storm Allison and the lessons learned from the deluge. (September 7, 2001) Cumaraswamy "Vipu" Vipulanandan has been named the new chair of the UH Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The appointment was effective Sept. 1.

(September 6, 2001) Virtual teams, see-through concrete and sickle cell anemia represent just a few of the new areas of research being explored by new UH faculty. Peter Vekilov, new associate professor of chemical engineering, is featured.
