(May 30, 2001) UH received authorization for the largest tuition revenue bond project ($51 million) for a new science and engineering building. Also, UH could see $12 million over the next biennium in Research Excellence Funds (Tier One) if signed by Gov. Perry. Details

(May 30, 2001) Shirley Mate, engineering academic advisor, received the 2001 George Magner Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising from UH President Arthur K. Smith and George Magner. Details

(May 23, 2001) Mechanical Engineering Graduate Carl Krueger surprised classmates at the UH Cullen College of Engineering convocation ceremony on May 11, 2001 by bringing a bucket of red and white carnations. Details

(May 22, 2001) Electrical Engineering Professor Liang C. Shen will receive the Gold Medal for Technical Achievement Award from the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts. Details

Nominate your favorite engineering faculty and staff for the Houston Alumni Organization's outstanding staff and faculty awards!

The HAO Outstanding Faculty Awards recognize faculty members who excel in both teaching and in building a sense of community among students. A $1,000 award will be made to one faculty member in each of the 13 colleges. Previous engineering recipients include Dave Shattuck (1999) and Larry Witte (2000). Details

The staff awards recognize superb contributions by members of the UH staff. A $1,000 award will be made to one non-exempt staff member and one exempt staff member. Details
