Clean Diesel Benefits Houston
At the UH Cullen College of Engineering’s newly-developed Diesel Vehicle Research and Testing Facility today, EPA Regional Administrator Richard E. Greene announced the Bush administration’s Clean Air Nonroad Diesel Rule will cut emission levels from construction, agricultural and industrial diesel engines by more than 90 percent. The rule was signed by EPA Administrator Leavitt yesterday.

Cullen College of Engineering Launches Redesigned Website
The University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering launched a redesign of the college website to give its audiences a better way to navigate through the site. The new site, designed by the college's Office of Communications, was designed by Harriet Yim.

UH/ASME Cajun Crawfish Boil, Opening to OTC Conference
On May 2, nearly 5,000 people converged on the UH campus to enjoy crawfish and festivities at the 16th Annual UH/ASME Cajun Crawfish Boil. Also at the event, ASME presented a $35,000 check to the UH Cullen College of Engineering. Pictured is chemical engineering senior Curll Dowden who shows what the Crawfish Boik is all about!


UH Electrical Engineering Professor Liang Shen Honored at Luncheon
Liang C. Shen, professor of electrical engineering and director of the UH Well Logging Laboratory, was honored at a luncheon Tuesday by the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts (SPWLA), faculty, former graduate students and his colleagues in industry. He was also presented with a large-screen plasma television as a gift from his former students and colleagues. He accepts congratulations from his former graduate student Joy Li.

UH Chemical Engineering Advisor Sharon Gates Receives UH Staff Excellence Award
For a majority of the 400 chemical engineering undergraduate students, Sharon Gates is more than a familiar face. From working with the students in the classroom to academic advising, she balances her students’ needs like a pro, or a Mom according to associate chair Demetre Economou. Sharon will receive the UH Staff Excellence Award.

2004 Engineering Faculty Awards for Teaching, Research
Dean Raymond Flumerfelt announced the winners of this year's faculty teaching and research awards at the UH Cullen College of Engineering's annual Faculty and Staff Meeting on April 29.

UH Industrial Engineering Professor Chung Honored For Words of Wisdom
There aren’t enough hours in the day for this year’s faculty recipient of the University of Houston’s George Magner Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising. Christopher Chung, associate professor of industrial engineering, couldn’t feel more honored for this recognition of his efforts outside the classroom.

Engineering Professor & Graduate Student Receive UH Teaching Awards
Charles Dalton, professor of mechanical engineering, received the Enron Teaching Excellence Award, and Chidiogo Madubike, who is currently working on her Ph.D. thesis in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received the Graduate Teaching Assistant Award.
