(February 1, 2002) After four years of failing to fill the directorship of its most high-profile science center, UH has merged the Texas Center for Superconductivity at UH with its next best-known center, the Space Vacuum Epitaxy Center. Alex Ignatiev, UH professor of physics, chemistry and electrical and computer engineering, will direct UH's new Texas Center for Superconductivity and Advance Materials.

(January 28, 2002) Players from the Houston Comets and local and state politicians will join students from six Texas universities in "A Walk for Education" Saturday, Feb. 2 in northeast Houston. The event is sponsored by the National Society of Black Engineers collegiate chapters from UH, UH-Downtown, Texas A&M, Lamar University, Prairie View A&M University and Rice University.

(January 28, 2002) How does a student get a job to get experience if the job requires experience? The UH Cullen College of Engineering has solved that problem with its Cooperative Education and Industrial Scholar Interns Program. These programs are designed to give students the hands-on experience necessary to obtain a great job after graduation.
