(January 18, 2002) The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering launched its redesigned website with the help of designers Alejandra Trivino and Harriet Yim in Engineering Communications.

(January 17, 2002) Since its modest start in 1974 with only eight students, the Program for Mastery in Engineering Studies (PROMES) has grown to include over 500 members. And according to members, PROMES is an encouraging and helpful influence in their lives.

(January 14, 2002) Debbie Roberts, UH associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, is working with the oil industry and the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that synthetic-based fluids used to lubricate oil-drilling equipment are environmentally safe.

(January 14, 2002) Debbie Roberts, UH associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, has been named by Governor Rick Perry to a new group called the Texas Council on Environmental Technology to develop solutions to air, water and waste problems.

(January 10, 2002) David Shattuck, associate professor of electrical engineering, was elected as an At-Large Member of UH Faculty Senate. Shattuck joined UH in 1982 and has received numerous teaching excellence awards.
