'GRADE' Camp Impresses High School Girls with Images of Electrical Engineering
(July 21, 2003) Forty-four high school girls encountered electrical engineering this summer in a day camp hosted by the UH Cullen College of Engineering. GRADE Camp (Girls Reaching and Demonstrating Excellence in Engineering) ran for two one-week sessions this summer, June 9-13 and June 16-20.

Engineering Review Courses Offered at UH, Katy for Fall State Board Exams
(July 17, 2003) Engineers planning to take state exams this fall in preparation for obtaining their professional licenses can enroll in review courses offered by the UH Cullen College of Engineering.

New Biomedical Engineering Program Set to Launch at UH in Fall
(July 16, 2003) Plans to begin a new Biomedical Engineering Program at UH cleared one last administrative hurdle recently when the Texas Coordinating Board granted its approval for a new undergraduate program in the field. The program will be launched at the UH Cullen College of Engineering this fall semester.

Langston, Kennedy

Doctoral Students Recognized by IEEE
(July 16, 2003) Timothy Kennedy and William Langston, UH doctoral students in electrical engineering, were recognized at separate IEEE International Symposia this summer. Kennedy's idea is to make cellular reception better without building unsightly new cell towers. Langston is studying how to keep a signal more true to its waveguide, which will help reduce distortion, loss of signal or crosstalk with other components.

Engineering Alumni Past Presidents to Raise $15,000 for Pavilion
(July 9, 2003) A new partnership of 17 former presidents of the Engineering Alumni Association are raising $15,000 to build a pavilion on the Cullen College of Engineering’s designated slab of concrete outside the Northwest entrance of Robertson Stadium.

Engineering Student Sees Degree as Pathway to Career in Environmental Law
(July 9, 2003) Abby Kotun plans to utilize an engineering degree from the University of Houston as a springboard to a career in environmental law. She envisions being involved in making sure companies are adhering to applicable laws and safety standards as they apply to the use of chemicals.

Engineering Alumni Association hosts Annual Membership Reception and Social
(July 2, 2003) The Engineering Alumni Association will host its Annual Membership Reception and Social on August 14.
