UH Team Places Third in ASME Design Competition
(April 25, 2003) An interdisciplinary team of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering students from the UH Cullen College of Engineering placed third in the 2003 American Society of Mechanical Engineers Design Competition.

UH Approved for Sloan Foundation Scholarships
(April 24, 2003) The UH Department of Industrial Engineering is one of only five such departments in the country to be approved for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Doctoral Scholarship Program for Underrepresented Minorities.

Junior Engineering Major Throws Five Shutout Innings to Key Win over No. 1 Rice
(April 17, 2003) Brian Henderson, a junior chemical engineering major, pitched five shut-out innings and gave up only four hits to lead the Houston Cougars baseball team past the Rice Owls, the nation's number one team, Wednesday. The performance propelled the Cougars to a 5-1 win at Cougar Field and improved the team's season record to 19-18.

 

Ph.D. Candidate Chose UH to Connect with Industry
(April 15, 2003) Karen Coym, a Ph.D. candidate in the UH Cullen College of Engineering, is working with the university's $3.8 million contract with the City of Houston for Air Quality studies. The army of gas canisters are a small part of her arsenal for researching reduction of NOx in diesel emissions using absorption, and then desorption and reduction.

 

Annual Tournament Raises Funds for UH Engineering
(April 9, 2003) Approximately 112 golfers helped raise money to support the UH Cullen College of Engineering at the 14th Annual Golf Tournament on April 7 at Hearthstone Country Club. See pictures of the golfers and a listing of sponsors.
