Affecting Change: UH Engineering Students Aid Needy Hospitals Overseas
(February 24, 2009) Sick people thousands of miles away, in part, have University of Houston engineers to thank for the sterile syringes delivering their medicine and the donated ultrasound machines allowing them to see their babies for the first time. Through a partnership with Project Cure, a longtime nonprofit organization, the students from the UH Biomedical Engineering Society have worked to improve medical care in third world countries by better equipping health care providers overseas with the tools to fight disease.

EAA Hosts Fifth Annual Engineers Week Reception, Program
(February 23, 2009) Held in conjunction with National Engineers Week, the
Engineering Alumni Association's EWeek reception and program celebrated engineers and raised awareness about engineering's benefit to society. The event, which celebrated five years this year, has provided close to $100,000 to 170 students and five organizations in its history.

College Names Outstanding Engineering Students
(February 18, 2009) Students from two University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering departments were among those recognized at a luncheon on campus today honoring area engineering students’ high academic achievement. Hosted by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, the event paid tribute to the college’s Outstanding Senior, Rodrigo Feliu (left) and Outstanding Junior, Joshua Kovitz, as well as the successes of other engineering students from Rice and Praire View A&M universities.

Alumni, Student Honored With Young Engineer of Year Award
(February 16, 2009) Current and former University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering students were among those named by area professional organizations recently as their 2009 Young Engineers of the Year. Kristin White (2007 MCE), Krishna P. Jonnalagadda (2003 MSEnvE) and David Bass, mechanical engineering senior, will be honored at a recognition dinner tonight as part of National Engineers Week.

College to Host 20th Annual Engineering Golf Tournament
(February 12, 2009) On April 6, the UH Cullen College of Engineering will host its 20th annual Engineering Golf Tournament. Spearheaded two decades ago by Larry Witte, professor of mechanical engineering, the golf tournament raises money for engineering scholarships and academic programs. The tournament will be held at Hearthstone Country Club.
