Outstanding Senior, Junior Supplement Education Through Internships, Honors Thesis
(February 28, 2005) Alfred Delumpa and Frank Permenter have received the honor of Outstanding Senior and Junior respectively for the Cullen College of Engineering. Each year, professors nominate an outstanding junior and senior from each department, and Frank “Fritz” Claydon, associate dean for undergraduate programs and computer facilities, makes a final decision. Both students were recognized at an Engineer's Week luncheon at Rice University.

UH Engineering Student Gives Back to Community, Teaches to Reinforce Knowledge
(February 18, 2005) Joseph Joubert said, “To teach is to learn twice,” and civil engineering senior Kimani Augustine has lived by that principle. From his teaching career in the Caribbean to the various tutorial programs he participates in at the UH Cullen College of Engineering, Augustine has fed his passion for math and science by sharing it with others.

College Mourns Death of Former UH Chemical Engineering Professor
(February 18, 2005) William “Bill” Prengle, a founding faculty member in the Cullen College of Engineering’s chemical engineering department, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the age of 85. Prengle served on the engineering faculty for 47 years, from 1952 to 1997, and helped build the department into a nationally recognized program.

ASME Recognizes UH Engineering Professor's Dedication to Applied Mechanics Division
(February 18, 2005) The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has awarded UH mechanical engineering professor Lewis Wheeler the Dedicated Service Award, which the ASME Board of Governors established in 1983, for his leadership to the Applied Mechanics Division.

 

UH Engineering Swings Into 16th Annual Golf Tournament
(February 2, 2005) Play in the 16th Annual UH Engineering Golf Tournament on Monday, April 4 at Hearthstone Country Club and support UH Cullen College of Engineering academic programs. A new award, the Dean's Cup, has been added this year to put competition between the college's academic departments with a $1,000 prize going to the winning department!
