Fluid Dynamics Award Establishes UH Engineer as World's Most Highly Decorated Scholar in Field
(February 28, 2002) UH engineer Fazle Hussain's recent acquisition of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Fluid Dynamics Award for 2002 establishes him as the world's most highly decorated scholar within the field of fluid dynamics.

[Only two other scholars have ever claimed as many as two of the four widely coveted awards that Hussain has received for career achievement or most original contributions in the field.]


UH Civil Engineering Students Tour Reliant Stadium
(February 27, 2002) UH Cullen College of Engineering alumnus Jimmie Schindewolf, P.E., led a group of 22 students from the UH American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter on a tour of the new Reliant Stadium last Friday morning.

UH System Gives Green Light To $51 Million Science, Engineering Building
(February 27, 2002) A $51 million construction project at UH for a new Science, Engineering and Classroon building – which will provide a pedestrian “gateway” to the west side of campus – was approved at a specially called meeting of the UH System Board of Regents. The 200,000-square foot facility will consist of 11 classrooms, a 550-seat teaching theater, and science and engineering research labs.

Cullen College of Engineering Faculty & Staff Make Highest Contributions at UH to State Employee Charitable Campaign
(February 26, 2002) The UH Cullen College of Engineering recently gave the highest contributions on campus for the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). This is the second year in a row that the college received this honor for faculty and staff contributions.

(February 14, 2002) The UH Cullen College of Engineering will play host to the 14th annual ASME/UH Cajun Crawfish Boil, the kick-off event for the Offshore Technology Conference, on May 5.

Learn What It Takes To Be An Astronaut
(February 11, 2002) The UH Student Chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics (AIAA) will host Lisa Reed, who trains NASA astronauts for a living, on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 1pm in the Engineering Lecture Hall (formerly L2D2, located behind Engineering Bldg 1). Golf Tournament Celebrates UH Engineering's 60th
(February 11, 2002) This is not an April Fools and the 13th isn't an unlucky number for the annual golf tournament that sells out each year! On April 1, the Engineering Golf Tournament will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the UH Cullen College of Engineering.


Chellam Claims NSF Award for Research on Water Purification Using Membranes
(February 8, 2002) Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Shankar Chellam's dedication to solving the worldwide issue of water decontamination has been rewarded with a $375,000 research grant and CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation.


Shell Oil Foundation Supports the UH Cullen College of Engineering
