From Diabetes to Roller Coasters, Student Research Recognized at UH Contest
(January 30, 2008) UH mechanical engineering student Christina Chang was one of three students who showcased research at the 34th Semiannual Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston (TcSUH) Student Symposium. Under the direction Gangbing Song, associate professor of mechanical engineering, Chang is researching cost-effective manufacturing techniques for the production of nanocomposites in an effort to improve safety for airplanes and roller coasters.

Ford's Gandhi, UH's Economides to Speak at 2008 Amundson Lecture
(January 16, 2008) The University of Houston Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering will be hosting the annual Neal R. Amundson Lectures on Friday, February 1 from 1:30-5 p.m. in L2-D2, the engineering lecture hall. Drs. Haren S. Gandhi, Ford Technical Fellow at Ford Motor Company Research Laboratory, and Michael Economides, petroleum engineering consultant and adjunct professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at UH, will be presenting lectures on energy and the environment during this year's event.

Students Receive Energy Engineering Scholarships
(January 2, 2008) Four UH Cullen College of Engineering graduate students and one undergraduate student each received a $1,000 scholarship from the National Association of Energy Engineers Foundation. The University of Houston was second in the nation in the total number of recipients—and first in the state. The students are pursuing cutting-edge research in the areas of fuel cell, water quality and meta materials.
