Astronaut & UH Engineering Alumnus Rex Walheim To Describe Life in Space at Leadership Recognition Day
(January 27, 2004) Traditionally, students invited to the UH Cullen College of Engineering’s Leadership Recognition Day are treated to a wealth of information about the university, such as housing, financial aid, and costs. This year, Dawnelle Prince, recruitment manager, has enhanced the program further by scheduling NASA astronaut and UH engineering alumnus Rex Walheim to speak to attendees at the sixth annual event on Feb. 21. The event, which is by invitation only, is a recruitment tool for students who have exceptional SAT scores and class ranks.

UH Engineering Alumnus and Entrepreneur Prepares to Launch New Software Product for Medical Industry
(January 22, 2004) “Even when I was a kid, I always knew I was going to be an engineer,” says Houston entrepreneur Jeff Beauchamp, who received both his bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from UH. Beauchamp’s startup software company, Datalign®, has recently licensed its information management technology from The University of Texas M. D. President Gogue Visits the Engineering College
(January 20, 2004) Before the campus closed for the holidays, the new UH President, Jay Gogue, paid a visit to the Cullen College of Engineering. Dean Ray Flumerfelt introduced the president to the college's leadership. After a short introduction to the college, the president had time f to visit a lab, where Professor Peter Vekilov had the opportunity to showcase his groundbreaking research on Sickle Cell Anemia.

UH Engineering Swings Into 15th Annual Golf Tournament
(January 20, 2004) Play in the 15th Annual UH Engineering Golf Tournament on Monday, April 5 at Hearthstone Country Club and support UH Cullen College of Engineering academic programs.

 

Results from UH Neuroscience Workshop to Be Published as Book by MIT Press
(January 5, 2004) UH professors Haluk Ogmen and Bruno Breitmeyer recently gathered some of the brightest stars in the field to help define and discuss the central issues involved in understanding the time-sensitive and richly complex functioning of the human visual system and the phenomenology of perception. In early 2005, MIT Press will publish results from the workshop as a book, The First Half Second: The Microgenesis and Temporal Dynamics of Unconscious and Conscious Visual Processes.
