Engineering Leadership and Entrepreneurism ProgramNew Program Boosts UH Engineering Students’ Business Savvy
(January 27, 2003) A new program developed by the UH Cullen College of Engineering will prepare graduates to be more successful when assuming leadership roles in their companies and facing real-world business challenges. The new Engineering Leadership and Entrepreneurism Program was launched this month as a pilot program with 25 students. The new program is one of only a handful of its kind in the country, and represents a recent trend toward incorporating business concepts in engineering programs.

Engineering Ambassadors Lead the Way for New Students
(January 27, 2003) A program that the Cullen College of Engineering established to help recruit engineering students to UH is now in its fourth year and includes 19 exceptional student leaders. The Engineering Ambassadors program is focused primarily on increasing the effectiveness and quality of the college's recruitment process.

(January 17, 2003) Kathleen Akkerman works a summer job at NASA, plays the viola in a community orchestra, participates in eight engineering student societies, builds computers as a hobby and performs professionally in a string quartet. America's Dependence On Mideast Oil Fuels 'Behind The Gas Pump' Symposium At UH
(January 15, 2003) A lineup of nationally renowned energy experts and scholars will present “Behind the Gas Pump: Implications of Our Dependence on Mideast Oil.” Michael Economides, UH professor of chemical engineering, will be one of the participants at this all-day conference on Jan. 17. National Ranking Places UH Civil Engineering at No. 14
